How many cookies per person for your party?

Choose portions for the actual cookie size, then get event cookies, take-home extras and whole boxes to buy.

Plan your cookie order

Start with three roughly 2 oz cookies per adult and an editable two per child. Adjust for other desserts, event length and size. Bakery guidance differs by occasion.

For roughly 2 oz cookies, JoJo's suggests 2–3 per guest. Adjust for size and other desserts; this is not a universal standard.
Two is an editable Party Servings scenario, not a measured child serving standard.
Leave at zero if favors are already included in your per-person count. Otherwise add the intended bag quantity separately.
A planning choice applied once to event cookies plus separate take-home cookies.
Subtract only confirmed, usable cookies for this same plan, not cookies reserved for another event.
Use 12 for dozens, or enter the actual box count.
An even target across the whole plan, including contributions; do not order this number of every flavor blindly.

How the cookie estimate works

The event portion, take-home extras, buffer and contributed cookies each enter the formula once.

  • Adult and child portions are multiplied by their counts; the event subtotal rounds up to a whole cookie. Three roughly 2 oz cookies per adult is inside JoJo's 2–3-cookie recommendation. Two per child is an illustrative Party Servings setting.
  • Take-home cookies equal all guests times the selected extra per guest, rounded up. Keep this zero if your overall allowance already includes favors.
  • Add event and separate take-home subtotals, apply one optional buffer and round up. Subtract confirmed contributions once, with the purchase target never below zero.
  • Divide the purchase target by your package count and round up. Extra cookies are package overage, not a second hidden buffer.
  • The even per-variety target divides the total including buffer by varieties and rounds up. It is an allocation aid, not an additional order. Adjust for flavor popularity and dietary needs.
